Officially, Arthur couldn't say that he was against the union. It would be good for his people, and that was the most important thing in the world. Their well-being and happiness. It had been a little odd to learn that his Queen's new husband ruled over a people without a personification, but then again the fae courts lacked them too, which had been why he'd received their magic. He'd have to learn how to handle what he gained from this joining too, he supposed.

As the Queen's entourage entered the war god's palace, he stayed tight at her side, feeling her light touch on his arm. It'd been the personal aspect of this whole issue that he'd objected to. Giving his fiery red-head up to another man was not easy.

Pausing, he quietly kissed her hand before giving her up to the care of her ladies and stepping away to let them go on without him. Arthur had a new kingdom to learn.

The rumours had started slow and quiet, hearsay gossip about potential uprisings that were put down with no fanfare. In many cases, it seemed like the instigators simply vanished into the ether, never to be heard of again, though a few more wild whispers spoke of a single person responsible for the vigilante-like peace-keeping, the same person showing up in various places all over the planet. No one quite knew who he was, or what to make of him, and few people could even agree entirely one what he looked like, though a few details remained the same: his young age, close to that of the gundam pilots; his unnatural strength and speed, greater than anyone should rightly possess; and his bright green eyes, a decided emerald.

It would take some serious work to track Asuran down to the Amazon, for he'd settled himself there, hiding out in one of the most beautiful places in the world. The area around his caves was littered with sentry robots, most of them shaped like birds who, at first glance, were indistinguishable from their real counterparts. There were signs of habitation to those who knew what to look for -- paths slowly being worn into the ground, twigs and branches broken, the entrance to the cave a little too clean...

The thick of winter was its most bitter moments before dawn, and Chizuru was up with the birds to get started on her daily routine of chores. It was always difficult to emerge from the warm cocoon she created with the blankets, and this morning was no different. She was only half-conscious as she prepared breakfast, but even when only fifty-percent functional, her food still wound up twice as good as any of the other captains' attempts.

Dragging her feet away from the stove, Chizuru began to gather the soiled washcloths from last night's dinner to top off what would be that morning's laundry. While the rice was cooking, she could at least draw the water for the washbasin.

She let out a painful yelp as she slid open the doors and stepped into the icy-cold hallway. Throwing her arms around herself and rubbing them warm, she shuddered and scurried down the engawa towards the courtyard with as quiet a shuffle as she could manage without waking anyone who was still asleep.

"Yes, sir." Sebastian repeated, standing in a quiet corner of the campus with his cell phone in hand and his messenger bag sitting by his feet. His new school had rules about cell phones, but as long as they respected the no cell phone rule in class or study hall or any other place posted as inappropriate they were allowed to have them. It just made it easier for his father to call him and ask him how his classes were going and nudge him about joining a sport.

Sebastian never asked about coming home. He never hinted to anyone that he was unhappy or uncomfortable. He never told anyone about the jerks that occasionally picked on him. He never shared with anyone the one place he had found to escape all of it. And if anyone noticed him sneaking into the music room between classes to play they hadn't mentioned it or told him he couldn't go in there. He never shared any of this with his father. Because it had been a long time since they really talked to each other despite all the phone calls about school and sports and future expectations.

He ended his call and turned off his phone before slipping it into his bag. It was easier to talk to his mother about the shop idea she had or food or Japan or anything really.

But despite his shy, uncomfortable, nervous, uncertainty about this new school, Sebastian exited his little sanctuary with his back straight and his face neutral, a false confidence set in his shoulders as he headed off to get something to eat and then back to his room to work on a paper. Maybe he would look into a sport just to make his father happy. Not that he imagined anything he did making his father happy. Not like before.
